Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG)

For non-local graduates of full-time, locally accredited programmes in Hong Kong. Applying within six months of graduating needs no job offer, and you may stay 24 months. Greater Bay Area campus graduates are covered too.

The Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG) apply to non-local students who obtained a bachelor's degree or higher qualification by studying a full-time, locally accredited programme in Hong Kong. The arrangements are quota-free and not sector-specific.

Two types of applicant

Non-local fresh graduates

Apply to the Immigration Department within six months of the graduation date (the date shown on the graduation certificate). You do not need to have found a job when you apply.

Non-local graduates who are not fresh graduates

Apply more than six months after the graduation date. You must already have been offered a job when you apply, in work normally taken up by degree holders and with remuneration at market level.

Length of stay

Provided that normal immigration requirements are met, you may stay 24 months on time limitation only, without other conditions of stay. An extension is applied for within three months before your limit of stay expires, and you must already be employed (in work normally taken up by degree holders, with remuneration at market level). If approved, you are normally granted a stay in a "3-3" year pattern. After seven years of continuous ordinary residence in Hong Kong you may apply for the right of abode in accordance with the law.

Greater Bay Area campus graduates

People who obtained a bachelor's degree or higher through a full-time programme offered by a higher education institution that a Hong Kong university runs in a Greater Bay Area mainland city under the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools (Greater Bay Area campus graduates) may also apply to come to work in Hong Kong under the arrangements, as fresh or non-fresh graduates on the same terms as above.
